Russia’s GDP composition by end use, based on 2022 figures, are as follows:
Household consumption: 52.4%
Government consumption: 18%
Investment in fixed capital: 21.6%
Investment in inventories: 2.3%
Exports of goods and services: 26.2%
Imports of goods and services: -20.6%
12% of the 26.2% exports is LNG. This means that LNG accounts for about 3.1% of Russia’s GDP.
Not all of it goes to Europe. Major buyers outside of Europe include China and Japan, and recently, India.
Europe cannot find alternatives to Russian gas and are now worried that Russia might stop providing them gas for the coming winter.
